On March 28, 2018 the five Rotary clubs Grass Valley, 49er Breakfast, Penn Valley, Grass Valley South and Nevada City came together in the Rotary Community Awards Ceremony to honor individuals who exemplified “Service Above Self” in our community. Catering for AFC Finishers, a company in Oroville, while there was torrential down pour of rain was challenging but we were happy that we had a cover to work under. The rain didn’t stop the aroma of the chicken and ribs cooking just outside from seeping into the building to workers anticipating the day’s lunch. Sides of green salad, roasted garlic red potatoes, ranch beans, garlic bread brought a little ray of sunshine for the day.
